Answers to Your Most Important Questions

We've answered the questions we hear most often from carriers considering professional fleet management services. If your question isn't here, contact us directly — our team is always available to help.

Fleet Management

What is fleet management and how is it different from dispatch? +
Traditional dispatch services focus primarily on finding and booking loads, often charging a percentage of gross revenue. Fleet management is a much more comprehensive service — it includes load planning and booking, but also covers compliance monitoring, driver management, back-office administration, performance reporting, business consulting, and strategic growth planning. A fleet management company becomes an operational partner in your business, not just a load finder.
How quickly can SkyBurns improve my fleet's performance? +
Most carriers see measurable improvements within the first 30 days — typically through higher negotiated rates, recovered detention revenue, reduced deadhead miles, and improved load consistency. Compliance and operational system improvements develop over the first 60–90 days as we establish complete records and workflows for your fleet.
Do I have to give up control of my fleet when I work with SkyBurns? +
Absolutely not. You remain in full control of your fleet and your business at all times. SkyBurns operates as your professional support team — we handle the operational and administrative workload you assign to us, provide recommendations and analysis, but all final business decisions remain entirely with you as the fleet owner or manager.
What information do you need to get started? +
To begin our free consultation, we simply need to understand your fleet — equipment type, number of trucks, current operating lanes, and your business goals. For full onboarding, we'll need access to your MC authority information, insurance documentation, and a brief overview of your current broker relationships. Our onboarding team guides you through the entire setup process.
Do you work with all equipment types? +
Yes. SkyBurns Carrier Support manages fleets operating dry van, refrigerated, flatbed, step deck, conestoga, power only, hotshot, RGN/lowboy, box truck, cargo van, and straight truck equipment. We have specialists for each major equipment category who understand the specific freight markets, compliance requirements, and operational considerations for each type.

Compliance & Safety

Do you handle FMCSA and DOT compliance for our fleet? +
Yes. Our compliance services include MC authority monitoring, USDOT status tracking, driver qualification file maintenance, drug and alcohol consortium guidance, ELD compliance guidance, CSA score monitoring, insurance certificate management, vehicle file management, renewal tracking, and audit preparation support. We manage your compliance calendar proactively so you never face preventable violations.
What is a CSA score and why does it matter? +
The Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program is FMCSA's safety measurement system, evaluating carriers across seven Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs): Unsafe Driving, Hours of Service, Driver Fitness, Controlled Substances, Vehicle Maintenance, Cargo-Related, and Crash Indicator. High CSA scores can lead to FMCSA investigations, broker load restrictions, and higher insurance premiums. We monitor and help improve your scores proactively.
Can SkyBurns help us prepare for a DOT audit? +
Yes. We provide audit preparation support — organizing all required documentation, reviewing your compliance records for gaps, and ensuring your safety management program documentation reflects your actual operations. While we cannot provide legal representation during an audit, we help you present your operation in the strongest possible compliance posture before and during the review process.

Pricing & Billing

How does SkyBurns charge for its services? +
SkyBurns charges a flat monthly fee per truck — not a percentage of gross revenue. This model aligns our interests with yours. We want you to maximize your revenue because our fee is fixed regardless of how much you earn. There are no setup fees, no per-load charges, and no hidden costs. See our pricing page for current plan rates.
Is there a long-term contract required? +
No. SkyBurns operates on month-to-month agreements. We don't need contracts to retain our clients — we rely on the quality of our work. You can cancel with 30 days notice at any time. That said, most clients stay with us for years because the results speak for themselves.
When am I billed and what payment methods are accepted? +
Monthly service fees are billed on the 1st of each month for service in that month. We accept ACH bank transfer, credit card, and wire transfer. Monthly invoices are provided for your records and tax documentation purposes.

Owner Operators

I'm a new owner-operator. Is SkyBurns right for me? +
Absolutely. New owner-operators benefit enormously from professional fleet management support. The early months of running your own authority are critical — establishing broker relationships, building your CSA profile, developing efficient operating lanes, and managing compliance correctly from the start. SkyBurns helps new owner-operators build the right foundation so mistakes don't compound into serious problems.
I already have my own broker relationships. Can I keep using them? +
Yes. We work with your existing broker relationships and build upon them. We can communicate with your current brokers on your behalf, renegotiate rates with them based on current market conditions, and expand your broker network strategically. You never lose access to brokers you have established relationships with.
What percentage of my gross does SkyBurns take? +
Zero percent. SkyBurns does not take a percentage of your gross revenue. We charge a flat monthly fee per truck, which means every dollar you earn above your operating costs and our flat service fee is yours. This is a fundamental difference between SkyBurns and traditional percentage-based dispatch services.
How do you communicate load information to my driver? +
We communicate load details directly to drivers via the method that works best for them — text, phone call, or app-based communication. We provide complete load packets including pickup address, delivery destination, appointment times, shipper/consignee contact information, special instructions, and broker contact details. All communication is documented for operational records.

Factoring & Cash Flow

Do I need to use a factoring company to work with SkyBurns? +
No. Factoring is a tool that many carriers choose to use for cash flow management, but it is not required to work with SkyBurns. We handle billing and invoice submission to brokers directly, whether you factor your receivables or collect payment directly from brokers. If you do factor, we coordinate with your factoring company to ensure prompt and complete billing package submission.
Which factoring companies do you work with? +
We work with all major trucking factoring companies including RTS Financial, OTR Capital, Triumph Business Capital, TBS Factoring, eCapital, and many others. If you have an existing factoring relationship, we integrate with your current provider. If you're looking for a factoring recommendation, we can suggest options based on your fleet size and cash flow needs.

Support & Communication

Is SkyBurns available 24/7? +
Our standard business hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM CST. For emergency fleet support — accidents, breakdowns, cargo issues, and operational emergencies — we maintain a 24/7 emergency support line available every day of the year. Emergency contact information is provided to all active clients upon onboarding.
How do I contact my dedicated fleet manager? +
Every SkyBurns client is assigned a dedicated fleet manager who is their primary point of contact. Your fleet manager is reachable by phone, text, and email during business hours. Direct contact information is provided at the start of your service relationship. For escalations or when your primary manager is unavailable, our backup team ensures continuous coverage.
What kind of reports will I receive about my fleet? +
You receive weekly performance summaries covering gross revenue, revenue per mile, load count, deadhead percentage, detention revenue collected, and broker performance metrics. Monthly reports provide deeper analysis including year-over-year comparisons, lane profitability breakdowns, and strategic recommendations for the following period. Enterprise clients receive custom reporting configured to their specific business intelligence needs.

Growth & Technology

Can SkyBurns help me grow from 1 truck to multiple trucks? +
Yes — and this is one of our most valued services. We help owner-operators build the operational foundation, financial discipline, and compliance infrastructure needed to add trucks responsibly. We provide guidance on financing options, driver hiring, DQ file requirements for employed drivers, insurance implications, and the operational system changes required at each growth stage.
Do I need special technology or software to use SkyBurns services? +
No special software is required on your end to use our services. We work within your existing tools and workflows or set up straightforward document sharing and communication systems that work on any smartphone or computer. For larger fleets interested in our technology platform features, we provide guidance and access to cloud-based tools appropriate for your fleet size.
How does SkyBurns protect my business data and records? +
All client data is stored in encrypted, cloud-based systems with role-based access controls. Your operational data, financial records, and compliance documentation are backed up regularly and protected by enterprise-grade security protocols. We treat client confidentiality seriously — your operational information is never shared with competitors or third parties without your explicit authorization.
